The snow might still be sticking to the ground, but based on 2 out of 3 ground hogs, spring is just around the corner. And the days are getting longer and it’s finally time to start thinking about your outdoor space. Common sense is a funny thing, though, and it is sometimes not as obvious to us unless someone else points it out. Here are some common sense tips to keep in mind in order to make replacing the floor or your entire wood shed. This will make the project a lot easier and enjoyable.

Do not repeat your mistake: While a lot of people replace their shed floor in order to get an upgrade, most people that are replacing the wood floor are doing it because of a problem with the floor they have now. Make sure you know exactly what caused your current problem before you make any changes to the floor or the rest of the structure.

There are a number of excellent free backyard shed plans around, and if you are looking for a bit of inspiration on how to design your shed, searching the internet for plans that other people have come up with might allow you to really understand your own plan better.

A good place to start in your quest for backyard shed plans would be to start with a general shed plan.  For example, the plan that is located here will give you a very good idea of what a typical shed might look like.  This is a shed idea from the Black & Decker company, and since they are a company that has for a long time been known for their handiwork, you’re certain to have a strong outcome.  So, if you are looking for general inspiration, take a look at that design and make note of the elements about it that you like.

Of course, garden sheds are very popular nowadays because of the fact that many people are getting into gardening as a hobby.  That means that a shed like this one might be a shed that you would look at to get ideas about specific garden tools and potting elements that you might want to include in your final shed design.  This shed does a good job of generally covering what you would want in a garden shed and therefore if there is some important part missing from your design you can make sure that you catch it in the design linked to above.

The selection of plans above is a partial list and I’m sure there are more plans available on the Internet. You just need to do some searching. You can also purchase plans on the Internet. The larger point here is that there are a lot of good ideas out there already for shed plans, and if you can not think of a good backyard shed plan on your own, then the next best thing is to look at what already works and then incorporate ideas from those working sheds into your own plan until you come up with a vision for what you want.  Lack of inspiration should never be a roadblock to developing your backyard shed plans because there are already so many good ideas available for free that you can find through a simple internet search.
