Summer is winding down :-(
It sure feels like summer is winding down now. The weather has actually been nice for the last few days, but the school is back in, the sun is going down earlier and the evenings are cooler. I like the transition to fall when the nights are cooler, but I'm not looking to the cold, wind and rain of fall.
So what activities are you up to this time of year? Last weekend I organized a Cul de Sac party for the local neighbours. It was a great time and the weather cooperated. I originally organized it in July, but the weather turned nasty. I talked to most of the neighbours to pick a date, gave lots of notice and put up the signs. But in the end the weather won out.
Last weekend I talked to a few neighbours and was planning it for this weekend, but the weather got nice so I changed the plans for last weekend. We printed out notices and put one on everyone's door. Even with the short notice we had a good turn out. You can tell I live on the Pacific North West because the weather rules our gatherings.
Another activited I've started is the garden cleanup. I'm also planning on putting down the final layer of topsoil and grass seed on the big hole that I keep talking about once every few months. It will be nice to finally get grass growing in that patch of dirt…finally.
And the last thing I need to do is look at purchasing a new outdoor heater. Last weekend one of our neighbours brought out a small table top heater when the sun went down. It was very cool because it run on a small propane bottle and you could place it on a table. She mentioned the propane heater will run for three hours on one small bottle. Very cool. I will try and dig up a link or a picture of the heater.
So what are you up to this weekend?
